Charity Week '07

Salaam everyone,

that's just a bit of this project called 'Charity Week 07'.

I received an email from MSCL (Malaysian Students Community in Leeds) of which apparently I am still a member (hehehe) and it's an introduction from the Leeds University Islamic Society to organize a project/program to help orphans in Kenya especially, and all over the world generally. And the Leeds University Malaysian Society (LUMSOC) has agreed to collaborate and participate in this program together with ISOC. (Now, here's where I wish I was still around to participate)

This program targets to collect around £30,000 in a week. So, even though I am very very far far away, but insya Allah I want to contribute as well. If you, my readers, want to contribute, you can make email me at sassylizm[at]hotmail[dot]com and I will give you the details of the account that you can send the money to, insya Allah :)
fyi, I think you have until the end of this month to make the donation. Will confirm on this later, insya Allah.

"Dan mereka memberikan makanan yang disukainya kepada orang miskin, anak yatim dan orang yang ditawan, (sambil berkata), "sesungguhnya kami memberi makanan kepadamu hanyalah kerana mengharapkan keredhaan Allah, kami tidak mengharapkan balasan dan terima kasih dari kamu"
[Surah Al-Insaan, Ayat 8-9]

So, what is Charity Week anyways? (Details taken from email)

The idea behind Charity Week is simple, to work together and help make a difference to people’s lives. Charity Week started in 2004 as a collaboration between Islamic Relief, ULU ISOC and over 15 University Islamic Societies in the South East. It was established to mobilise the massive Muslim student population to raise money through innovative and enterprising means. As you read this the, £30,000 that has been raised so far is being used to fund essential work in an orphanage in Kenya as well as sponsor hundreds of orphans around the world.

Charity Week is a student run initiative that encourages individuals to sacrifice a bit of their time and direct their skills and talents to a great cause. Its success is entirely dependant on the commitment shown by students and the end result is a reflection on Muslim students in the UK. University life can impose significant stress on students with exams and coursework deadlines but is also an incredible opportunity to experience and do many new things. Use your time and talent to make a difference. Providing the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience in fundraising, Charity Week is also an excellent example of the Muslim student community uniting and co-operating to help those less fortunate.

Jazakallahu khairan for your kind attention and actions.

note to self: fi sabilillah, wherever we are, insya Allah, we'll make use of our time and talent to make a difference...

anddddd please make duaa for my little nephew, Adam Darwisy who's been down with fever these past few days :( jazakallah..
